It's been nearly a month without an update and I just realized what my last post was: a cute, naive hope that our little season of sickness was about finished. Bwahahahaha! Since then, we've had 3 children with pneumonia and then sinusitis. It was a doozy of a month. I snapped this picture of Gracie in the middle of the night. We both fell asleep during a breathing treatment.

The adorableness and snuggle time made this a surprisingly not-terribly-unpleasant season of sickness. Lots of reading. Lots of hot tea. Lots of cuddles. Lots of Doctor Who. Lots of Jane Eyre. If it weren't for the complete lack of sleep, anxiety over their oxygen levels, lingering smell of sickness, or being completely cut-off from outside human interaction, it would have been outright enjoyable.

Everyone is well now. We're moving slowly, like RipVan Winkle recently awakened, but we're moving. We're jumping (in slow motion) back into school this week and it feels good to be alive.

  1. Hey Jenn! Poor babies!! I'm sure you are a much better mom than me and are all over this already...but do your kiddos take vitamins? I only ask because we went through a horrible sick season last year and I was desperate by about the 6th case of stomach virus, and the 5th case of strep throat. Oh, the horrors of the stomach virus with 8 children! Anyway, we had never been vitamin takers, but some friends recommended a regimen of a daily multivitamin, vitamin c, and a probiotic and it really helped our kiddos! Now we mostly just take the multivitamin (when we remember) and are sure to take the extra vitamin c and probiotic the day before we go to church or co-op (to boost the immune system). is a great site to find the same vitamins from the health store cheaper if you aren't aware. Hope they get to feeling better soon!!

  2. Funny timing! I just placed a Vitacost order yesterday! We had completely wiped out our stores of everything (vitamins, D3, magnesium, echinacea.) I agree it is very helpful. We actually had been taking them though, so it really floored me. Oddly, the one kid who wasn't on vitamins (Ethan) is the one kid who barely got sick. His ran out a couple months ago and I keep forgetting to replace those teen vits. We are also on D3, which is supposed to be very helpful for the immune system. It shouldn't have happened - lol - but it did. I've only had mine on Vit D and multivitamins...I hadn't tried Vitamin C as a daily thing, just as a boost when they're sick. How much do you use for a preventative?
